Hotel Blue Star Cancun sits in a genuinely handy spot in the heart of downtown Cancún, on Avenida Palenque in the SM 26 district. Its real selling point is pairing city-centre prices with a few resort touches: a year-round open-air rooftop pool, a hot tub, and a terrace and sun deck where you can soak up the Mexican Caribbean climate without leaving the hotel.
It's a comfortable base for leisure and business travellers alike, with rooms and a suite in a range of sizes, all featuring air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a coffee machine, a safe and a private bathroom with a shower. Some add a balcony, a patio or city views, and the suite comes with its own hot tub.
The hotel runs a 24-hour front desk, with room service, a restaurant, a bar and a shared lounge, plus free Wi-Fi throughout the property and free private parking — a real bonus in this part of town. A paid airport shuttle is also available. Please note that payment at the property is accepted in cash only.

Hotel Blue Star Cancun offers three types of accommodation built for different kinds of trip: a Standard Double Room with two large beds, a good fit for families or groups of up to four; a roomier Superior Double Room, ideal for couples; and a Suite with a hot tub and an extra-large bed, the most special option in the house. Floor space is clearly stated across the board, from the 21 m² of the Standard to the 35 m² of the Suite.
Every room shares the essentials — air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a coffee machine, a minibar, a safe, a seating area and a private bathroom with a shower, free toiletries, a hairdryer and towels. The differences come down to space and extras: the Superior adds a private entrance and inner-courtyard views, while the Suite throws in a balcony, a terrace, city views and its own hot tub. In every case these are rooms with bed linen and towels provided, geared towards resting after a day at the beach or out in the city.

Hotel Blue Star Cancun brings together a set of amenities you don't often find in a city-centre property. Its main draw is the wellness area up on the roof: a year-round open-air pool, a hot tub, a sun deck with loungers and umbrellas, and a terrace for making the most of the Caribbean sun. On top of that there's a restaurant, a bar and a snack bar within the hotel itself, along with a shared lounge.
The front desk is staffed around the clock, with a concierge service, a cash machine, luggage storage, tourist information and invoicing, and the staff are happy to advise on what to do and how to get around. The hotel offers room service, daily housekeeping, and laundry and ironing (for a fee), as well as a paid airport shuttle. There's free Wi-Fi throughout and free private parking with no need to book. The rooms come with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a coffee machine, a minibar, a safe and a private bathroom, with the option of a balcony, a terrace and a hot tub in the suite.
Hotel Blue Star Cancun is on Avenida Palenque, in the SM 26 district, right in the heart of downtown Cancún — the part locals call El Centro. This is the real city, with markets, taquerías and neighbourhood life, a world away from the atmosphere of the Hotel Zone. It's a very handy base for anyone after an affordable place to explore from: within a short walk you'll find cafés and restaurants such as Byblos, Tacos Rigo and a pizzeria, with a Starbucks about 550 metres away.
The real strength here is the connections. The Cancún bus station (ADO) is just over a kilometre away, with frequent departures to the airport — around 14 kilometres off, barely 15 minutes by car — and to Riviera Maya destinations such as Playa del Carmen and Tulum. The Caribbean beaches are within easy reach too: Playa Las Perlas is about 4 kilometres away, and the start of the Hotel Zone, with its beaches and nightlife, around 5-7 kilometres along Kukulcán Boulevard. To get about, a car works well — with free parking at the hotel — or the R-1 and R-2 buses, which link downtown with the beach.
The best time to visit Cancún runs from December to April, with dry, warm, sunny weather; September and October see more rain and a higher risk of tropical storms, though prices drop. Come evening, the nearby Parque de las Palapas comes alive with street-food stalls and free shows — a great way to experience the most authentic side of Cancún just minutes from the hotel.
